In a cozy little forest by a sparkling creek, lived a family of foxes — Papa Whit, Mama Whit, and their two curious kits, Maisie and her little brother, Archie.
One sunny morning, as Maisie and Archie played near the tall, whispering trees by their den, Papa Whit said, "Maisie, Archie, it's time for an adventure!"
Maisie's ears perked up, and Archie’s tail wagged fast. "An adventure, Papa? Where are we going?" they both asked, super excited.
"We're going to visit Memaw's and Papaw's house," Papa Whit said, pointing to the river. "They live on the other side, past Serenity Crossing."
Maisie jumped up and down, super happy. But Archie held on to Mama Whit’s leg, feeling a little nervous. He had heard stories about the big, busy Odyssey Bridge, and the idea of crossing something else like that made him feel scared.
Mama Whit smiled and knelt down to Archie. "Don’t be afraid, my little Archie. We’ll be with you the whole time. Memaw and Papaw can’t wait to see you, and they have lots of surprises waiting for you."
Just as they got to the bridge, they met an otter with a big, happy laugh. He waved at them. "Hello, Papa Whit! Are you taking the little kits to see their grandparents?"
"Aye, Aye Captain," Papa Whit smiled.
Captain Rivers grinned and winked at Maisie and Archie. "You're going to have so much fun!"
Mama Whit held out her hand for Archie to take. Archie started to feel better with his hands in his mamas. The family started walking down the path to Serenity Crossing, a smaller, quieter bridge that crossed a little part of the river. As they crossed, Maisie pointed at the fish swimming in the water, and Archie laughed and clapped his paws, feeling brave with his family beside him.
They began to cross the river. The wind blew through their fur as they looked at everything around them — Olaf’s little house in the distance, kids playing on the shore, and the big boat house far away.
When they got close to the other side, Maisie and Archie could see Memaw and Papaw’s house by the trees, smoke coming from the chimney. They were so excited!
Memaw and Papaw rushed out to greet them with big hugs. "Maisie! Archie!" Memaw Whit said, giving them both a warm cuddle. "We’ve been waiting for you!"
Papaw Whit chuckled and gave them each a silly tickle. "Welcome, little ones! We have so many fun things for you to do!"
Maisie and Archie felt so happy and loved by their grandparents. The afternoon was full of laughter, fun stories, and yummy treats. Maisie helped Memaw pick fresh berries from her garden, while Archie sat with Papaw, listening to funny stories about animals in the woods.
As the sun went down and the sky turned pretty colors, Maisie and Archie snuggled next to Memaw and Papaw and fell asleep.
